History: Class A minor league baseball in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has taken on many names over the years, from the Canaries to the Rabbits to the Rockets to, currently, the Kernels. The Bunnies represented Cedar Rapids from 1904-1942, and the 1929 squad featured pitcher Ralph Birkofer, who later pitched 4 seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
