After a stellar rookie season with the Seals in 1933 (including a 61-game hitting streak), Joe tore the ligaments in his knee while getting out of a jitney in 1934, and it took the persuasion of Yankee scout Bill Essick to keep the Bombers interested in him. DiMaggio returned to the Seals for one more season in 1935 and hit.398. He also led the league in RBIs and triples, and was named the PCL's MVP.
