History:  On April 18, 1946, Jackie Robinson stepped onto the field for the Montreal Royals at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, NJ, against the Jersey City Giants and became the first player in modern history to break Organized Baseball's unwritten color line. Robinson (#9) went on to lead the International League in batting average and fielding percentage, and was promoted to Brooklyn the following season.

The most famous player in the club's history was an outfielder named Glen Gorgeous Gorbous, a local kid who went on to play for the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies, and who later at an exhibition with the Omaha Cardinals threw a baseball 445 feet and 10 inches, a Guinness World Record that still stands to this day.
